Indian Space Research Organisation’s Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3) mission will launch 36 OneWeb Gen-1 satellites, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
LVM3 is the dedicated commercial satellite mission of New Space India Limited (NISL), a central public sector enterprise under the Department of Space. This is the first LVM3 dedicated commercial launch on demand through NSIL.

Karnataka Bank has been awarded the National Digital Transformation Awards ‘DX 2022 Awards’ by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for best practice in digital transformation under the BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) segment.
The awards recognise ‘innovative excellence’ in three categories: employee engagement, operational excellence, and customer experience.

A workshop on ‘Role of meter class telescopes in modern-day astronomy’ was organised to commemorate the completion of 50 years of successful operations of the Sampurnanand Telescope (ST).
It is a world-class telescope located near Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand. The 104 cm telescope at Manora Peak was established in 1972. The important results contributed by the telescope include the discovery of new rings around Saturn and the rings of Uranus.

Former British finance minister Rishi Sunak is set to become Britain’s next prime minister. The 42-year-old will become the country’s third prime minister in less than two months, after his predecessor, Liz Truss, was brought down after just six weeks in office.
The ‘Roadmap 2030 for India-UK future relations’ was launched last year.

World Polio Day is observed every year on October 24 to raise awareness about the polio vaccination and eradication of polio.
The day highlights the efforts of the frontline workers who work to provide vaccines in polio-hit countries. This year, the overarching theme of World Polio Day is ‘A healthier future for mothers and children’. World Polio Day was established in 1985 to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who was the lead researcher of the team that developed the first Polio vaccine

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has directed the Vice Chancellors (VC) of nine universities in Kerala to tender their resignation, citing a Supreme Court judgment.
There has been an ongoing tussle between Kerala Governor and the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state government. After the VCs approached the Kerala High Court challenging the order, the court has now ruled that they can continue in their posts.

The central government launched a credit scheme for rural women entrepreneurs recently to create more enterprises and jobs.
It will offer financing to individual members of a self-help group (SHG), without any collateral and without any experience of entrepreneurship. Women between 21 and 60 years of age are eligible for this new credit scheme. Interest subvention will be provided to loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh for three years on prompt repayment.

Two beaches from Lakshadweep Minicoy Thundi Beach and Kadmat Beach were added to the list of ‘Blue Beaches’.
It is an eco-label given to the cleanest beaches in the world by the Foundation for Environment Education (FEE). With this, India now has 12 beaches certified under the Blue Flag Certification. Spain with 729 sites tops the list of countries with Blue Flag awarded sites.

The 27th annual UN meeting on climate, COP27 (Conference of Parties) will take place in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt from 6th to 18th November.
This will be the fifth time a Climate Conference is being hosted in Africa. COP27 will focus on three main areas, reducing emissions, helping countries to prepare and deal with climate change and securing technical support and funding for developing countries for climate activities.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the Upper Bhadra scheme will become the state’s first national project.
The Union Jal Shakti Minister has been requested to get it passed in the Union Cabinet. After the approval, the grants will be provided to start the work.
