Nagaland is famous for its King Chilli also called as ‘Naga Mircha’. It is considered as one of the hottest chilli varieties in the world.
The first ever Naga Mircha Festival was recently hosted by Seiyhama Village Council sponsored by the Department of Horticulture. Seiyhama village has become the dominant cultivator with a variety of species including the Naga King chilli.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented BusinessLine’s Changemaker of the Year award to Bharat Biotech. Mithali Raj, the veteran women cricket player of Indian team, who brought laurels to the country was presented the iconic changemaker of the year award.
Institutions including DeHaat and Zerodha, as well as achievers including Ramesh Raliya, Prachi Shevagaonkar and Akash Singh  were among the winners.

The United Nations’ International Labour Organization (ILO) released a report, in which it stated that 50 million people worldwide are stuck in ‘modern slavery’.
The number of people trapped in forced labour or forced marriage and other crises has rose by one fifth in recent years to about 50 million on a single day. The study was conducted along with the Walk Free Foundation.

India’s largest private sector bank HDFC Bank became the first bank in the country to issue an electronic bank guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Ltd.
Issuing bank guarantee was a paper based and time-consuming process. It has been eliminated with the new electronic guarantees that can be processed, verified and delivered instantly with increased security.

The Emmy Awards 2022 Awarding Ceremony was held recently in Los Angeles. Lead Actor in a Drama Series title was won by Lee Jung-jae, Squid Game while the Lead actress in the same category was won by Zendaya for Euphoria.
Hwang Dong-hyuk won the directing Emmy for the dystopian Korean thriller, Squid Game. Jason Sudeikis won Best Actor in Comedy Series for Apple’s show Ted Lasso.

The International Day of Democracy is observed every year on September 15. This year, the theme is “the importance of media freedom to democracy, peace, and delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals”.
The Day focuses on the importance of freedom of media to democracy, peace, and delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals. It also provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world.

Tamil Nadu government celebrates the birthday of reformist leader E V Ramasamy (Periyar) as ‘Social Justice Day’ in the state.
On that day every year, employees in all government offices including the State Secretariat would take pledges to follow values based on the leader’s ideals which include, brotherhood, equality, self-respect and rationalism.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai launched a diagnostic service called the ‘Xpress Clinic’ in Malleswaram Assembly Constituency.
In Xpress clinics, 60 per cent concession will be given for BPL cardholders in government hospitals, and 40 to 50 per cent concession will be given for APL card holders.

Steven Spielberg’s film The Fabelmans won the prestigious People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2022.
It is one of the most celebrated and semi-autobiographical film. TIFF People’s Choice Documentary Award was won by ‘Black Ice’ directed by Hubert Davis. TIFF People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award was won by ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’, directed by Eric Appel.

Tropical Cyclone Fiona strengthened into a hurricane as it hit Puerto Rico, a Caribbean island and unincorporated U.S. territory.
The National Weather Service warned that the Blanco River in the southeast coastal town of Naguabo had surpassed its banks and urged people living nearby to move immediately.
