Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that HDFC Bank (in partnership with Sweden-based Crunchfish Aktiebolag) has been selected for the test phase for their ‘Offline Retail Payments’.
Precision Biometric India Pvt. Ltd has been selected for test phase of ‘InnaIT Key Solution for Banking’ products. The institutions were selected for the theme ‘Retail Payments’ under Regulatory Sandbox. RBI introduced a Regulatory Sandbox (RS) in 2019 to develop innovation in financial services to benefit consumers.

International Literacy Day is observed every year on September 8 to highlight the importance of literacy and to focus on issues that exist and affect local communities around us.
September 8 was proclaimed as International Literacy Day (ILD) by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1966. The theme for International Literacy Day this year is ‘Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces’.

NITI Aayog and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) held the inaugural NITI-BMZ Dialogue of Development Cooperation via video conferencing.
Earlier in May, India and Germany signed a Joint Declaration of Intent on Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development (GSDP). In June 2022, India and G7 had agreed to work towards a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai announced that the ban on production, sale and use of all types of firecrackers will be extended till January 1, 2023.
The decision has been taken to contain the pollution during the festival season. The ban has been also been extended to online sale of firecrackers. An action plan is set to be drawn to ensure strict enforcement of the ban. The AAP also launched the ‘patakhe nahi diye jalao’ campaign to create awareness against bursting of firecrackers.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins of Mohenjo Daro is located in southern Sindh province of Pakistan near the Indus River.
An unprecedented monsoon season has killed hundreds of people in Pakistan and this condition has posed a threat to the archeological site of Mohenjo Daro dating back 4,500 years, which were discovered in 1922.

Bank of India (BOI) has become the first public sector bank to go live on Income Tax Department’s new Direct Tax Collection System Tin 2.0.
With this integration, taxpayers will now get a single platform for their tax payments and the e-filing of tax returns. Taxpayers can now make direct tax payment at any branch of the Bank of India across the country.

The plan to deal with the death of the head of state in Britain was termed Operation London Bridge. Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 after reigning for 70 years.
The plan lists the procedures that explain moments after her death and culminate with her funeral 10 days later. The part of the plan for her death at her castle in Scotland was codenamed ‘Operation Unicorn’.

‘National Forest Martyrs Day’ is observed on September 11 to pay tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives to protect forests and wildlife.
In 2013, Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change declared that the day in honour of forests and those who work to protect them. It was on the same day in 1730, the infamous Khejarli massacre took place, where Bishnoi community offered their lives to save Khejarli trees from being cut down.

An empowered committee headed by NITI Aayog CEO approved 32 beneficiaries under the production linked incentive scheme for large scale electronics manufacturing.
This is the first-ever disbursement under any PLI scheme and it includes 10 for mobile manufacturing. This scheme extends an incentive of 4% to 6% on net incremental sale of manufactured goods, to boost electronics manufacturing and attract large scale investments.

Nagaland is famous for its King Chilli also called as ‘Naga Mircha’. It is considered as one of the hottest chilli varieties in the world.
The first ever Naga Mircha Festival was recently hosted by Seiyhama Village Council sponsored by the Department of Horticulture. Seiyhama village has become the dominant cultivator with a variety of species including the Naga King chilli.
