The 18th edition of the India-US joint training exercise “Yudh Abhyas 22″ is scheduled to be conducted in Uttarakhand this month.
The previous edition of the exercise was conducted in Alaska in October 2021. The annual exercise aims of exchanging best practices and tactics between the armies of the two countries. The joint exercise will also focus on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.

Notes:
Madhya Pradesh government has implemented the Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act in the state.
It aims to preserve the tribal population from exploitation with an active involvement of the Gram Sabhas. The Act also gives special powers to the Gram Sabhas in Scheduled Areas for the management of natural resources.

Six-time World women’s boxing champion and Olympic medallist Mary Kom was elected as the Chairperson of the Athletes Commission of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
The vice Chairperson position went to Sharath Kamal, ace table tennis player. 10 Olympians, including Olympic medallists PV Sindhu, Gagan Narang, Mary Kom and Mirabai Chanu were elected unopposed as members of the Athletes Commission of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

At COP27, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced USD 33 million to provide communities at risk of climate-prone disasters (cyclones, droughts, and floods) with access to effective early warning systems.
USAID is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and national authorities in vulnerable areas to scale up early warning systems.

Notes:
National Museum, New Delhi and Kolding Museum, Denmark are set to conduct a joint exhibition ‘Silver treasures from Denmark and India’ in March 2023.
A Memorandum of Understanding of the exhibition was signed and exchanged between the two museums.. The collaboration and exhibition is under the recently agreed cultural exchange programme between India and Denmark for2022 to 2026.

NTPC has won the Gold award at 47th International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC-2022) in Jakarta.
The theme for ICQCC-2022 was ‘Built Back Better through Quality Efforts’ and the NTPC Quality Control Team presented on ‘Frequent Choking of Collecting tanks of AHP-IV’.NTPC had been declared the “Dream Employer of the Year” at the World HRD Congress and winner by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), USA.

The State Bank of India (SBI) sold electoral bonds worth ₹10,246 crore since the instrument was launched in March 2018.
As per the recent data, majority of these bonds were of one crore while less than 10 per cent of subscriptions were of lower denominations including ten lakh, one lakh, ten thousand and one thousand.

The 4th Edition of Indian Chemicals Council (ICC) Sustainability Conclave is being held in New Delhi. Theme of the event is ‘Boardrooms to Community-ESG, Carbon Neutrality, Operational Safety, Greener Solutions’.
The Conclave aims to promote sustainability in the management of the entire life cycle of chemicals. It is being organized by United Nations Environment Program and International Council of Chemical Associations with support of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Khalid Jawed’s book ‘The Paradise of Food’ has been awarded the JCB Prize for Literature 2022. The book has been translated into English from Urdu.
The Paradise of Food is the fourth translation to win the JCB Prize and the first work in Urdu.
