The Rising Sun Water Fest-2022 was held in the state of Meghalaya at Umiam Lake. The three day water sports and cultural fair was a first of its kind in the North East.
It is aimed at encouraging the youth of North East to take up water sports like Rowing and Sailing. It also aimed at promoting tourism in the North East. It was an initiative by the Indian Army’s Eastern Command with the governments of Assam and Meghalaya.

World Radiography Day is celebrated every year on November 8, marking the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays.
The day also celebrates the hard-working radiographers and radiologists. X-rays were discovered accidentally by Professor Wilhelm Röntgen of Germany in 1895. Röntgen discovered the fluorescent glow of crystals when he was working with a cathode-ray tube fluorescent glow of crystals.

Indian physician and scientist Dr. Subhash Babu has received the prestigious Bailey K. Ashford Medal for 2022.
He was also presented the ‘Fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (FASTMH) award for 2022.’ This is the first time in 82 years, that the award has been given to an Indian scientist or an Indian institution for work.

Rajasthan has launched its first Handicraft policy to promote the skills and harness the potential of local craftsmen.
The focus of the handicraft policy, is to support the craftsmen and weavers, as well as ensure their access to technological advancements. The policy also provides for handicraft parks, design centres, sales centres, and the creation of a Directorate of Handicraft.

Notes:
A documentary filmmaker working on a film on the indologist famous for working on the first Kannada dictionary, has digitally recreated one of those fonts for Kannada.
Named as the ‘Kittel font’, it will be released on an open source platform. The font is just one of the fonts used during the 1860-1925 period.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend the ASEAN-India summit in Cambodia, which is expected to review the status of the strategic partnership between the two sides.
He will also represent India at the 17th East Asia Summit during his three-day visit to the Southeast Asian nation, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

A total of 118 Indian universities have figured in 2023 edition of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings.
IIT Bombay has been placed at 40th rank this year. It is the top ranking institution from India. IIT-B is followed by IIT Delhi (46), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore (52) and IIT Madras (59). In the top 10, five universities are from China.

Spain and Senegal led 30 countries and 20 global organisations to launch the ‘International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA)’.
It was launched at the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) at Sharm El-Sheikh. The alliance is seen as a specific solution for the United Nations to the impacts of climate change, as it will help each other to be better prepared for future droughts.

India hosted the 2nd BIMSTEC Agriculture Ministers meeting under the chairmanship of Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, in New Delhi.
Agriculture Ministers of Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand participated in the meeting. BIMSTEC stands for Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation.

The Indian space agency handed over the Flight Termination System (FTS) used in its own rockets, to Indian start-up Agnikul Cosmos.
The Chennai-based launch vehicle company is in the process of building their own rocket ‘Agnibaan’. ‘Agnilet’ is a single-piece engine, and the world’s first single-piece 3D printed rocket engine fully designed and manufactured in India. ‘Agnilet’ was test fired at the Vertical Test Facility at ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
