India’s Union health ministry has established a high-level committee tasked with developing the National Action Plan Anti-Microbial Resistance 2.0 (NAP AMR).
AMR, or anti-microbial resistance, refers to the phenomenon wherein bacteria, viruses, and fungi gradually develop resistance to medications, posing challenges in effectively treating various illnesses. This resistance can occur in both humans and animals.

Notes:
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) suggested the creation of an independent statutory body called the Artificial Intelligence and Data Authority of India (AIDAI), which would function as both a regulator and advisory body for all AI-related matters.
It also recommended that the administrative responsibility for AI should be placed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Kerala received the National Healthcare Excellence Award for its state health and safety scheme.
Additionally, the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP) scheme of Kerala has been recognized with the Public Health Excellence Award. The award will be presented at the National Healthtech Innovation conclave in New Delhi on July 27.

Recently, the Odisha Cabinet sanctioned Rs. 5700 crore for the implementation of a State sector scheme called ‘Interest Subsidy-Subvention.’
This scheme aims to provide interest-free crop loans up to Rs. 1 lakh to farmers. For crop loans ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh, the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to charge a retrospective interest rate of 2% starting from April 1, 2022.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik equals former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu’s record as the second longest-serving Chief Minister in India.
Mr Naveen Patnaik has held the position for 23 years and 138 days. The title of the longest-serving CM belongs to Pawan Kumar Chamling, the former CM of Sikkim, who held the position for 24 years and 166 days.

The Lok Sabha has passed the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023. The bill aims to establish regulations and uphold education and service standards for nursing and midwifery professionals. It comes under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023 aims at setting up National Nursing and Midwifery Commission (NNMC) and to repeal the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947.

Around 19000 tourists and residents were transported amidst wildfires on the Greek island of Rhodes.
Greece said it was its biggest safe transport of residents and tourists in emergency conditions. Rhodes is a hugely popular holiday destination among visitors from Britain.

River Seine in Paris will soon welcome swimmers and divers back for the first time in nearly a century, as it enters the last phase of an unprecedented cleanup effort.
Having been prohibited for almost a century due to pollution, the government is investing approximately USD 1.6 billion in the Seine regeneration project, which is being praised universally as a triumph.

In the desert city of Yazd, Iran, residents have ingeniously designed tall, chimney-like structures called wind catchers or badgirs, which draw in cooling breezes to provide relief from the extreme heat that often exceeds 40 degrees Celsius during the summer.
These architectural marvels are a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to energy-consuming air-conditioners, making them both cost-effective and carbon-free.

In preparation for COP28, the UAE Presidency and the International Energy Agency (IEA) held the initial high-level dialogues focused on creating an energy transition aligned with the 1.5°C target.
The effort is a joint undertaking with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and will receive support from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
