Notes:
Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur’s technology business incubator launched NIRMAN Accelerator Programme.
It is supported by the department of science and technology, Government of India. 15 startups will be selected will be facilitated to accelerate their product from lab to market. The best performing ones among the 15 startups will receive a cash award of up to ₹10 Lakh.

Notes:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut India’s growth forecast for 2022-23 (FY23) to 7.4 per cent, citing less favourable external conditions and fast policy tightening by RBI.
In its update to the April World Economic Outlook, the IMF said that global recession in 2022 was ruled out with a growth estimate of 3.2 per cent. Asian Development Bank recently slashed its growth projection for India to 7.2 per cent for FY23, from 7.5 per cent.

‘International Tiger Day’ is observed every year across the world on July 29. The objective is to raise awareness among individuals, organisations, and governments about the importance of the conservation of tigers.
International Tiger Day was introduced in 2010 after it was discovered that 97 percent of tigers disappeared in the past century. According to the WWF, the current population of tigers is 3,900. India is home to around 70% of the world’s tiger population.

The Union Cabinet approved a project for providing 4G mobile services in all uncovered (24,680) villages in remote and difficult areas of the country.
The project will be executed by BSNL using Atmanirbhar Bharat’s 4G technology stack and will be funded through Universal Service Obligation Fund. The total project cost is Rs 26,316 crore.

Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) has introduced a new scheme to provide enhanced export credit risk insurance cover up to 90% to support small exporters.
This cover is provided under the Export Credit Insurance for Banks Whole Turnover Packaging Credit and Post Shipment (ECIB- WTPC & PS).  The scheme would benefit small-scale exporters availing of export credit with banks and to diversify their existing portfolio.

Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Jitendra Singh said that the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is finalising a National Policy on the blue economy for the country.
The draft policy framework on India’s Blue Economy seeks optimal utilisation of all sectors of the maritime domain, tourism and ocean energy for sustainable development of coastal areas. A National Blue Economy Advisory Council has been proposed to be set up.

According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), scientists released the first pieces of the multispectral maps made by the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM),.
NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has been mapping minerals on the red planet Mars for the last 16 years with the help of CRISM.

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier— Vikrant was built and delivered to the Indian Navy by Cochin Shipyards Limited (CSL).
CSL, the public sector shipyard, under the Ministry of Shipping, has built the carrier with 76 per cent indigenisation components. Vikrant will be commissioned into the Indian Navy as Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant.

Tamil Nadu is the first state to launch ‘Breakfast Scheme’ for students of Government schools. The state government issued an Order to implement the first phase of the ‘Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme’ at 1,545 government primary schools.
The scheme is set to benefit more than 1.14 lakh children in Classes 1-5 across the State during 2022-23, at a total cost of ₹33.56 crore.

Notes:
The Kerala Labour Department is set to launch its own e-taxi service named ‘Kerala Savari’. The online taxi hiring service will serve as an alternative to popular corporate online cab services.
This is considered to be the first such initiative by any state government in the country. The state will link the existing auto-taxi networks in the state to ensure safe travel for the public at affordable rates.
