Notes:
A tripartite agreement was signed by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for swift development of modern Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLP).
The MoU was signed under the  Bharatmala Pariyojna across the country with an objective to centralize freight consolidation and reduce logistics cost from 14% to less than 10% of GDP.

As per recent data, Punjab and Haryana are among the top States in terms of food-grain production and yield.
Uttar Pradesh and some western and southern States have the highest production of non-foodgrains. Foodgrain includes rice, wheat, pulses and coarse cereals while non-foodgrains include oilseeds, cotton, sugarcane and jute. The net sown area has reduced in Odisha, Maharashtra and Bihar, while it has gone up in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 470-acre Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj, address Khadi Utsav at that Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad
He also laid the foundation stone of various developmental projects during his visit to Gujarat. The prime minister will also address a programme marking the commemoration of 40 years of Suzuki in India.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with the officials of the Agriculture Department and Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY).
The Chief Minister said that the state government would extend its support to set up 50 rice mills with 200 MT milling capacity in the state. This scheme will be held in convergence with CMSGUY and Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

The Indian Navy has announced that India’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC-1) will be commissioned on September 2.
As per the Navy, the warship will be christened ‘Vikrant’ and it will mark a milestone of realisation of Nation’s commitment towards self-reliance. The ship was first launched in August 2013 while the sea trials began in August 2021.

The Chief of National Mission for Clean Ganga recently mentioned about the ‘Arth Ganga model’ during his address to the Stockholm World Water Week 2022.
It is the new model of sustainable development of rivers, which aims to connect people with the river through economy. The Arth Ganga initiative ‘strives to contribute at least 3% of the GDP from the Ganga Basin’. Its verticals include ‘Zero Budget Natural Farming, Monetization and Reuse of Sludge and Wastewater, livelihood generation, public participation and tourism.

Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).
NPPA is an attached office of the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. It acts as an independent Regulator for pricing of drugs and to ensure availability and accessibility of medicines at affordable prices.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted the 10th National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise SAREX -22 in Chennai.
ICG Dornier planes demonstrated ways of rescuing passengers from ships and aircraft during emergencies. The theme of this edition of the biennial exercise is “Capacity Building towards Marine Passenger Safety”.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated a month-long Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games in Jodhpur.
The Village Olympics is expected to see the participation of 44,000 villages across Rajasthan and 30 lakh people. Out of the 30 lakh participants, 9 lakh are women. The Games include volleyball, hockey, tennis ball cricket and Kho Kho.

Notes:
Pakistan is facing one of the worst floods in its recent history. As per the recent reports, about 110 of the 150 districts in the country are affected by the flooding.
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that over 1,000 people were confirmed dead in the floods so far. Europe, China and some other regions of the world are experiencing a severe drought.
