Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 2nd generation (2G) Ethanol Plant, in Panipat, Haryana. The 2G bio-fuel plant has been set up to boost the production and usage of bio-fuels in the country.
The ethanol plant has been developed by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), at an estimated cost of over Rs 900 crore. The plant utilises about 2 lakh tonnes of rice straw annually to generate around 3 crore litres of Ethanol annually.

American tennis legend Serena Williams has announced that she will retire from professional tennis at the age of 40.
Serena Williams won her first major title at the 1999 US Open, when she was 17. Since then, she won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most of any woman in the Open Era. She won her last Slam title at the 2017 Australian Open when she was eight weeks’ pregnant. Serena has 73 WTA titles overall and 14 major doubles titles with sister Venus Williams.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launched the Nethanna Bima scheme for the weavers on the occasion of National Handloom Day.
This scheme will provide ₹5 lakh insurance cover to the weavers’ families in case of the unfortunate demise of an eligible beneficiary. Telangana government has partnered with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India for the ‘Nethanna Beema’ scheme.

As per the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Food Distribution, as many as 151 districts in 24 states have already lifted fortified rice under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The government said nearly 6.83 lakh tonnes of fortified rice has been distributed under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the second phase from April 2022. The first phase began in October 2021, to distribute fortified rice through Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN).

The Union Cabinet approved the signing of an audio-visual co-production treaty between India and Australia, to promote co-production of films.
Audio-visual co-production treaties are documents which facilitate co-production of films between two countries. Under these umbrella agreements, private, quasi-government or governmental agencies enter contracts to produce films together.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched India’s first Saline Water Lantern ‘Roshni’, during his visit to SAGAR ANVESHIKA, a Coastal Research Vessel.
The first-of-its kind lantern uses seawater as the electrolyte between specially designed electrodes to power the LED lamps.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh handed over the domestically manufactured anti-personnel mine Nipun and Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS) to the Indian Army.
Indian firms have indigenously manufactured both the defence system. The AK-203 assault rifles are set to be manufactured in Amethi in a joint venture between Indian and Russian entities.

The State Bank of India (SBI) will manage the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Bangladesh for two more years.
At present, SBI runs a total of 15 IVACs across Bangladesh and the first IVAC was started by SBI in 2005 in Dhaka. The agreement to extend the operations for two more years was signed recently.

Union Health Ministry launched a new campaign named ‘Paalan 1000 National Campaign’ and parenting application, focussing on development of children in the first two years.
The app was launched at the Early Childhood Development Conclave. It will provide caregivers with practical advice on things to do in their everyday routine and will help solve the doubts of parents

India has recently contributed 4 lakh US dollars to four Voluntary Trust Funds for global promotion and protection of human rights and support for United Nations Human Rights.
