The Indian Cotton Federation in association with the Indian Cotton Association is organising a two-day Conference on Cotton Challenges Ahead 2022.
The conference will be held in city of Coimbatore in state of Tamil Nadu. There will be various panel discussions with all stakeholders from different segments of the cotton sector.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched three startup regional hubs in Madurai, Tirunelveli and Erode, to promote innovation policy to tier-II and tier-III regions.
He also launched the StartupTN accelerator initiative to support growth stage startups. Initiatives related to community circle and incubator maturity model framework were also launched. Rs 5 lakh was provided to 31 startups each across the State, as a part of the of Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Grant Fund (TANSEED).

The telecom operator Vodafone Idea Ltd. (VIL) launched ‘Ready for Next program’ through its Vi Business arm.
The program aims to help 2.5 lakh MSMEs in their journey of digital transformation. MSME sector makes 30 per cent contribution in the GDP of India and has an employment basket of 110 million Indians.

India is set to host diplomats of the 15-nation UN Security Council including US, China and Russia, in October for a special meeting on counter-terrorism.
India is an elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for a two-year term. India’s tenure at the Council will end in December this year. India chairs the Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee for 2022.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) signed an MoU with the Bangladesh Roads and Highways department in Dhaka for emergency supply of petroleum goods via Bangladesh territory to India.
As per the Indian High Commission, this is an interim set up for urgent supply of petroleum products due to damage caused by the flood in Assam.

Five women officers of the Indian Naval Air Squadron 314 based at Porbandar in Gujarat created history by completing the first all-women independent maritime reconnaissance and surveillance mission over the north Arabian Sea onboard a Dornier 228 aircraft.
The aircraft was captained by Mission Commander Lt Commander Aanchal Sharma, who had pilots  Lt Shivangi and Lt Apurva Gite  and tactical and sensor officers in her team.

The Indian Army conducted the first of its kind large-scale exercise codenamed ‘Skylight’ to boost its space domain capabilities.
The aim of the exercise was to test operational readiness of satellite communication assets and training of personnel operating the assts. The exercise was organised across the country and all satellite communication assets of the Indian Army were activated. Agencies responsible for space and ground segments and ISRO took part in the exercise.

Market regulator SEBI has released a new framework that will prevent company insiders from dealing in shares during the closure of the trading window.
Under the Prevention of insider trading (PIT) regulations, the trading window is closed when the compliance officer determines that a designated person or class of designated persons possess unpublished price-sensitive information.

The ‘Porcupine strategy’ (asymmetrical warfare) was adopted by Taiwan in 2017. Lee Hsi-Ming, then-chief of the Taiwanese military forces, called it as the “Overall Defence Concept” (ODC). It focuses on strengthening a weak state’s defences to exploit the enemy’s weaknesses rather than taking on its strengths.
China recently launched unprecedented military exercises near Taiwan after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island that Beijing claims as part of its territory.

World Breastfeeding Week is observed every year, from August 1 to 7, to insist on regular breastfeeding for babies. This year’s theme for World Breastfeeding Week is ‘Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support.
In 1990, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF created a memorandum, to support and encourage breastfeeding. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) was established in 1991. The inaugural World Breastfeeding Week was observed in 1992 to promote the campaign.
