As a part of ‘Amrit Brikhya Andolan, 2023’, the Assam government, along with public support, attempted nine world records during a drive to increase the State’s green cover.
The world records attempted during the movement included the largest spiral of saplings, the largest number of seedlings distributed in one day at one venue, most trees planted by a team in 24 hours, most trees planted in an hour, largest planted tree mosaic, most trees planted by a team of 100 in an hour among others.

The Ministry of Finance approved a series of welfare measures for the benefit of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) agents and employees.
The welfare measures are related to the amendments to LIC (Agents) Regulations, 2017, Enhancement of Gratuity Limit, and Uniform Rate of Family Pension among others. It will benefit more than 13 lakhs agents and more than 1 lakh regular employees.

East African country Rwanda has a record with an impressive 61 percent of women in its Parliament, a contrast to many other countries.
After the tragic Rwandan genocide in 1994, there was a predominant female population as large number of men killed during the violence. To address the societal and gender imbalances, Rwanda implemented a transformative gender equality initiative in its 2003 constitution, introducing quotas, ensuring women held 30 percent of decision-making positions.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) consulted stakeholders on ‘National Broadcasting Policy’.
As per TRAI, the Policy may provide a common approach for licenses, oversight, and compliances. The government is seeking to bring further parity in how digital and legacy mediums like television and OTT streaming are regulated.

The Climate Ambition Summit (CAS) in New York, as part of the United Nations General Assembly, was concluded recently.\
Top three emitters, China, United States and India, who collectively account for about 42% of global greenhouse gas emissions, were absent from the summit.

Haryana submitted its ‘State Action Plan for Management of Paddy Stubble Burning’ to Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
In the plan, Haryana aims to significantly reduce and potentially eliminate fire incidents resulting from paddy stubble burning this year. To achieve this, the state plans to implement bio-decomposer applications in 5 lakh acres of land during the current harvesting season.

Electrolysers are instruments employed in the industrial process of splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen by utilizing electricity generated from renewable sources like solar, wind, or nuclear power.
According to a recent report by the International Energy Agency, China is expected to have authority over 50% of the global installed capacity of electrolysers for low-carbon hydrogen production by the conclusion of 2023, despite a decrease in new projects due to rising inflation.

Every year on September 23, diplomats from India’s Embassy in Israel and Israeli government officials gather at the Haifa War Cemetery to pay respects to the Indian soldiers who were killed and wounded in the battle, on foreign soil.
This year, the commemoration was undertaken to mark the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Haifa. The Jodhpur Lancers contributed in liberating Haifa from the Ottoman Turks, as per the research of Brigadier M S Jodha.

Megamonodontium mccluskyi is the largest fossil of a trapdoor spider in Australia. This is the first fossil ever discovered from the Barychelidae family, which consists of large brush-footed trapdoor spiders.
It’s only the fourth spider fossil ever to be found in Australia. The spider was discovered among a rich assemblage of Miocene fossils.

Max Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Prix by a comfortable margin to seal Red Bull’s second consecutive Constructors’ Championship.
The McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri followed Verstappen in the second and third positions.
