The G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration has underscored the importance of women’s empowerment, with a particular focus on bridging the digital gender divide.
The declaration announced the creation of a new ‘Working Group on Empowerment of Women’ to support the G20 Women’s Ministerial, with its first meeting scheduled during Brazil’s G20 presidency. The declaration also calls for regulatory policy frameworks that enable women and girls to actively participate in national digital strategies.

Vadodara based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), which is a central university under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus, a leading global player in aerospace.
The MoU aims for holistic development of academic curricula, faculty, industrial experience, training and scholarships, job creation and collaboration with international institutes.

Phase 2 of the 21st edition of Varuna bilateral exercise between Indian and French Navy was conducted in the Arabian Sea.
The exercise witnessed participation of guided missile frigates, tanker, Maritime Patrol Aircraft and integral helicopters from the two sides. The first phase of ‘Varuna-2023’ was conducted off India’s Western Seaboard.

India proposed to launch a G-20 Satellite Mission for Environment and Climate Observation, with an aim to help the countries of the Global South.
Prime Minister Modi said the G-20 satellite mission would be beneficial for all of humanity just as the data obtained from India’s successful Chandrayaan moon mission.

The Manipur Cabinet approved a permanent housing scheme for displaced people and extended the ‘disturbed area’ status of the State.
The State Cabinet also approves the extension of the ‘disturbed area’ status and condemns the ‘unwanted actions’ of the Central security forces on civilians.

Russian chess player Alexander Grischuk has recently lifted the Blitz chess title, on the final day of the Tata Steel Chess India tournament.
The Russian is already a three-time World champion in this format.  He has competed in five Candidates Tournaments.

A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that approximately 40% of sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) in India have criminal cases registered against them.
25% of them facing serious criminal charges, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and crimes against women. The report also highlights that 7% of MPs are billionaires, with an average worth of assets per MP from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha being Rs 38.33 crores.

The Second Edition of ICAR-CIBA’s Shrimp Farmers Conclave-2023 was inaugurated by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, in Navsari, Gujarat.
Key highlights include the signing of MoU between CIBA and the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) for aquaculture crop insurance and technology support for Fish Farmers Producer Organizations (FFPO). A shrimp crop insurance product by Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited was also launched.

Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space-based observatory to study the Sun from a halo orbit around the first Sun-Earth Lagrangian point (L1), which is located roughly 1.5 million km from the Earth.
The first, second and third earth-bound manoeuvre was successfully performed on September 3, 5 and 10 respectively. The manoeuvres are being performed during the spacecraft’s 16-day journey around the Earth during which the spacecraft will gain the necessary velocity for its further journey to L1.

On the birth anniversary of Dravidian icon C N Annadurai 15 September, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched ₹1,000 monthly financial assistance scheme for women.
The state identified 1.06 crore women who will benefit from the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (women’s basic income) scheme.
