American gymnast Simone Biles won her 21st world title with all-around gold at the World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
Biles is now the world’s most decorated gymnast ever with 34 medals across world championships and Olympics.  She took a two-year break to take care of her mental health.

The Assam government has announced plans to conduct a socio-economic survey of the state’s five indigenous Muslim communities to determine measures for their upliftment.
The survey’s results will inform the government’s efforts to address the comprehensive socio-political and educational needs of these indigenous minority groups.

Rajasthan’s first heritage train named the ‘Valley Queen Heritage train’ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This heritage train provides a nostalgic experience by replicating the design of a steam engine that’s been around for 150 years. The Valley Queen Heritage Train is the sixth of its kind in India.

The State Bank of India (SBI) launches Mobile Handheld Device to enhance accessibility and convenience.
This device will provide cash withdrawal, cash deposit, fund transfer, balance inquiry and mini statement at doorsteps of customers. The initiative will particularly benefit customers who face challenges in accessing Bank Branches including Senior citizens and differently abled.

Star Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra defended his Asian Games title with a season’s best throw of 88.88 metres.
Another Indian athlete Kishore Kumar Jena took silver with a new personal best of 87.54 metres, past the automatic qualification mark of 85.50m for next year’s Paris Olympics.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) issued an interim order, stating that over-the-top (OTT) platforms are not under the jurisdiction of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Instead, they are regulated by the Information Technology Rules of 2021, which were notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Dipika Pallikal, Harinder Pal Sandhu won Gold medal in Mixed Doubles Squash event defeating the Malaysian pair in finals.
Saurav Ghosal won the silver medal in men’s singles. Indian men’s team also topped the podium. The Indian squad in squash won five medals – two gold, one silver and two bronze in all.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system, which is located off the east coast of the Queensland mainland, Australia.
Scientists have revealed that significant pollution is entering the reef via underground water sources. This discovery carries substantial implications for policymakers seeking to mitigate pollution from river catchments.

Professor Claudia Goldin has been recently conferred the Nobel Prize in Economics 2023. It recognized her comprehensive research on women’s contribution to the labor market.
