The Government of Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the topper in implementing PM Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi Scheme (SVANidhi Scheme). The state has been ranked No.1 in number of applications, sanctions and disbursements.
The PM SVANidhi scheme was launched by the Central Government on June1, 2020 to give financial assistance to urban street vendors during the Covid 19 pandemic.

October 24 is observed as World Polio Day every year, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the American virologist Jonas Salk.
He led the first team to develop the vaccine against Polio. World Polio Day was established by Rotary International, to caution the countries in their fights against Polio. Recently, the African region was certified as wild poliovirus free.

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladkah R. K. Mathur flagged off Ultimate Ladakh Cycling Challenge in Leh, Ladakh.
Regarded as one of the toughest cycling challenges in the world, it is held at an altitude of over 17 thousand feet. Ladakh Police, Ladakh Tourism Department in association with the Cycling Federation of India and Ladakh Cycling Association are organising the four-day event.

Cochin Shipyard and Italy’s Fincantieri, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for co-operation in the areas of design, ship building, ship repair, marine equipment manufacturing, besides training & skill development.
Fincantieri is one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups. Cochin Shipyard is the largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility in India.

The ‘Electricity Access in India and Benchmarking Distribution Utilities’ report has been launched by NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power, Rockefeller Foundation and Smart Power India.
The report has been complied based on a survey conducted across 10 states, representing about 65 % of the total rural population of India.

The Delhi Cabinet has approved over Rs 40 crore to provide medical insurance to lawyers, who are residents of the national capital.
Rs 5 lakh medical insurance and Rs 10 lakh life insurance are provided under the Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme. A 13-member committee was set up headed by Rakesh Kumar Khanna, to recommend ways for utilisation of the fund for welfare of advocates.

The Indian Navy has successfully test fired its anti-ship missile in the Bay of Bengal from its Guided Missile Corvette INS Kora.
The anti-ship missile was launched by its Missile Corvette INS Prabal, which hit the target with precise accuracy. The missile was launched as part of a mega drill involving several aircraft carriers, attack helicopters and other assets of the Navy.

The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) has released a report named ‘Doing Business in India Report 2020’. The report has been launched by UK Investment Minister Lord Gerry Grimstone.
The report has been compiled based on the inputs from 106 UK organisations operating in India in manufacturing, services, and higher education sectors.

The World’s first scientoon book named “Bye Bye Corona” has been published by Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous agency under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
The book has been written by Dr Pradeep Srivastava who is the former Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow. The main purpose of this book is to make people aware of COVID-19 in an engaging way
