Mars orbiter Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (Maven) is the Mars orbiter mission launched in the year 2013, to investigate the upper atmosphere and ionosphere of Mars.
As per a recent study of data and images sent by ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and NASA’s MAVEN, Mars is losing its atmosphere to outer space at a faster rate, when compared to other terrestrial planets in the solar system.

Every year, October 24 is celebrated as the World Development Information Day by the United Nations. The resolution in this regard was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1972.
The day lays stress on the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve international problems. It mandates to improve the dissemination of information and the mobilization of public opinion, particularly among young people to find solutions for problems of development.

A fast-moving cyclone named Molave has hit the southern provinces of the Philippines. It has resulted in heavy flood in rural villages of the country.
The typhoon was blowing towards the South China Sea with sustained winds of 125 kilometres per hour. Nearly 25,000 villagers were displaced from the villages taking shelters in schools and Government buildings.

Speakers and members of Parliaments of the five BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) would participate in the 6th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
Indian Parliamentary delegation would be led by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla. The Forum will be held in Virtual format. The meeting will be chaired by Vyachaslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Notes:
The Mumbai Police has issued a ban on flying remote aerial objects or drones and para gliders in the skies of its jurisdiction. The order has been issued under the Sec 144 of Criminal Procedures Code 1973.
This ban has been imposed on security reasons and to prevent the use of these flying machines to attack VVIPs in Mumbai by anti-national elements.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank virtually inaugurated the DST-IIEST Solar PV Hub at IIEST, Shibpur.
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) is an Institute of National Importance under Ministry of Education and is located in the state of Kolkata. The hub will have the world class research facilities.

The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced that all Turks should boycott French goods.
As France has taken a rigid stance against radical Islam, the relationship between Turkey and France has deteriorated. The French President earlier announced that “liberate Islam in France from foreign influences”.

State Bank of India (SBI) signed a loan agreement amounting to up to USD 1 billion with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
As a part of the agreement, USD 600 million will be financed by JBIC and USD 400 million by other participating banks. It is expected to promote smooth flow of funds to the business operations of Japanese automobile manufacturers in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated Sardar Patel Zoological Park known as Jungle Safari, in Kevadia, Narmada district of Gujarat.
The Zoological Park, also known as Jungle Safari, has been set up near the Statue of Unity. The Prime Minister also inaugurated Arogya Van at Kevadia in Narmada district of Gujarat. It has around 400 species of plants and trees with rich medicinal values.

Notes:
The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has launched a mobile application named ‘Green Delhi’. Using the application, the residents of Delhi can bring pollution causing activities to the government’s notice.
The application has been designed to identify the location of pollution source and the complaint will be automatically forwarded to the concerned department for time bound action.
