Indian Army Chief General M M Naravane and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla have handed over 3,000 vials of Remdesivir to Myanmar.
The vials were handed over to Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, during their two-day visit, which aims to expand ties in areas including connectivity, defence and security. This is also the first visit of Army Chief to the country.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) became the second Indian firm after Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) to attain a market valuation of more than Rs 10 lakh crore.
Due to a rally in its share price, the company’s market valuation jumped to Rs 10, 03,012.43 crore on the BSE. Last month, the company became the second Indian firm to have a market valuation of over Rs 9 lakh crore.

Technology Major Google has recently announced Google Workspace as the new name for its package of business tools.
The package including email and document editing was earlier known by the G Suite brand, which was introduced in 2016. Google has also launched some new features including integration of video chat with co-workers among others.

TCS iON, a unit of Tata Consultancy Services has announced the launch of National Qualifier Test (NQT), IT students and professionals.
The Test will be a common gateway test for several participating corporate firms for their fresher recruitment programmes. The NQT will be conducted every quarter and the score will be valid for two years.

The Kuwait Government headed by the Prime Minister Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah submitted its resignation recently.
The New Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah has directed the cabinet to carry on its duties and prepare for the parliamentary elections that are due this year. The current cabinet was formed last December.

Veteran IPS officer M A Ganapathy has been appointed as the Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
As per to a Personnel Ministry order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ganapathy, for a tenure up to his superannuation on February 29, 2024. He is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Uttarakhand cadre.

The World Bank has warned that as many as 150 million people are likely to be in extreme poverty by 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic is expected to push an additional 88 million to 115 million people into extreme poverty this year. As per the biennial Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report, this condition represents a regression to the rate of 9.2 per cent in 2017.

The Indian Foreign Service (IFS) day is celebrated on 9 October every year since 2011, to commemorate the day the Indian Cabinet created the Indian Foreign Service.
Several National Leaders including the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister extended their greetings to all Indian Foreign Service officers in the country. The Prime Minister also mentioned their contribution in the Vande Bharat Mission.

The Indian Navy has cancelled Reliance Naval and Engineering Ltd’s (RNEL) Rs 2,500-crore naval offshore patrol vessels (NPOVs) contract.
The contract is said to be cancelled due to the delay in delivery of the vessels. In 2011, the contract to build five warships was signed with the company. RNEL is going through the debt resolution process in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

Notes:
The issue price of the 7th series of sovereign gold bond (SGB) scheme has been fixed at Rs,5051 per gram.
The SGB will be available for subscription from Oct12 to Oct 16, 2020. These Gold bonds are issued by the Reserve Bank of India on behalf of the Government of India.
