The CoWIN platform, which is used nation-wide for the Covid-19 vaccine delivery system. It provides all details on COVID-19 immunisation programme, including registering beneficiaries, allocating vaccination centres, sending text messages to beneficiaries.
As per the high-level meeting chaired by Union health minister, it was announced that the CoWIN platform will be made available in Hindi and 14 regional languages.

Notes:
A team from Northwestern University has developed the most realistic, highest-resolution 3D simulation of star formation to date.
Named as STARFORGE (Star Formation in Gaseous Environments), it is the first framework to simulate an entire gas cloud, where the stars are born. It is also the first simulation to simultaneously model star formation, evolution and dynamics.

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory, the biggest device of its kind, has detected a dozen sources of ultra-high-energy gamma rays.
According to a study in the journal Nature, Gamma rays with such high energy have never been detected before in our Milky Way galaxy. More than 530 photons at energies above 100 teraelectronvolts and up to 1.4 PeV were detected.

The FIFA council has approved India to host the 2020 U-17 World Cup from October 11 to 30, 2022. This tournament was earlier scheduled to be held in 2021, but has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
Similarly, the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup for 2022 would be hosted by Costa Rica.

The International Monetary Fund has proposed a $50 billion global vaccination plan for the world, which aims to vaccinate at least 40% of the global population by the end of the year 2021.
The proposal for $50 billion is expected to be in the form of grants, Governmental resources and concessional financing.

Notes:
Cheetah, the world’s fastest land animal which was declared extinct in India in 1952, after the country’s last spotted cheetah died in Chhattisgarh in 1947.
The animal is expected to be re-introduced into the country in November this year at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) prepared a cheetah re-introduction project a few year ago.

The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has formulated a policy paper on “Circular Economy in Electronics and Electrical Sector”, which aims to deal with e-waste management.
The paper focuses on 11 recyclable products, which pose considerable challenges in electrical and electronics manufacturing. A circular economy is a system which is aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources.

The Governor of Haryana S N Arya has given his assent to the state Government’s Recovery of Damages to Property Act.
This act aims to recover the damages caused by protestors to people’s shops, vendor carts, houses, government offices, vehicles, buses and other public property during any rally or movement.

Viruses have either RNA or DNA as their genetic material. The nucleic acid may be single- or double-stranded. The SARS-CoV-2 virus has RNA as its genetic material.
Recently, Scientists in Taiwan have developed a new DNA-based COVID-19 vaccine that successfully induced antibodies against novel coronavirus in mice and hamsters. Currently available COVID-19 vaccines use messenger RNA (mRNA) to teach human immune system to recognise the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The Central Government is set to provide grants to some public sector companies under the Mission COVID Suraksha, to increase the vaccine production.
Hyderabad based Indian Immunological limited, IIL, is a facility under the National Dairy Development Board. As per the Science and Technology Ministry, IIL and Bharat Biotech has collaborated to supply the drug substance for manufacturing Covaxin Vaccine.
