The Maharashtra Cow Service Commission Bill was tabled at the State Assembly. Under this legislation, a 25-member commission will be set up to promote indigenous cows, bulls, bullocks and calves.
According to the proposed bill, anyone found violating the norms set by the commission will be liable for a penalty of ten thousand rupees.

India’s first cloned female calf of the desi breed Gir was produced recently by the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. It can produce more than 15 litres of milk per day.
Scientists of the institute have produced a female cloned calf from the somatic cell of the tail of the indigenous Gir cow breed. It is a native tract in Gujarat and is popular for its docile nature, disease-resistance, heat-tolerance and high milk producing qualities.

The Ministry of Culture is implementing a Scheme by the name of ‘Scheme of Scholarship and Fellowship for Promotion of Art and Culture’ to protect all genres of artists including folk song artists.
It consists of 3 components including (i) Award of Scholarships to Young Artists in Different Cultural Fields (SYA), (ii) Award of Senior/Junior Fellowships to outstanding persons in different cultural fields and (iii) Award of Tagore National Fellowship for cultural research (TNFCR).

Dama celiae is an extinct species of fallow deer with two-pointed antlers. It lived Europe during the Pleistocene epoch, around 365,000 and 295,000 years ago.
The fossilized remains of Dama celiae, including a rib with seven cut marks, were collected from the sand quarries of Pedro Jaro I and Orcasitas in the Manzanares valley.

Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP) is being implemented under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission scheme to promote livestock industry in India.
The implementation of the Artificial Insemination method and other initiatives resulted in milk production in India increasing from 146.31 Million Tonnes in 2014-15 to 220.78 Million in 2021-22.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) executive board approved a nearly USD 3 billion bailout plan for Sri Lanka recently.
Of the total amount about USD 333 million was to be disbursed immediately to alleviate the country’s humanitarian crisis.

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme has been announced in the Union Budget 2023-24. Union Minister of State for Finance announced that the scheme will start in Financial Year 2023-24.
It is a deposit facility up to two lakh rupees in the name of women or girls for a tenure of two years and it was announced that the interest will be 7.5 per cent.

India-Romania Defence Cooperation Agreement, was recently signed by the two countries.
It will set the foundation for the practical cooperation between the armed forces. It will help expand the military relationship between the two signatories.

Piezoelectric Effect is a phenomenon that involves a body developing an electric current when it is squeezed.
For the first time, scientists reported evidence of this effect in liquids. As researchers applied pressure with a piston to a sample of an ionic liquid in a cylinder, it led to the release of electricity.

‘National Handloom Development Programme’ aims to promote sustainable development of handloom weavers in and outside identified handloom clusters.
The Central Government recently informed that an assistance of more than Rs.201 crore has been provided under this initiative over the last four years.
