The researchers from Monash University in Australia extracted the enzyme called Huc from a common soil bacterium, Mycobacterium smegmatis.
This enzyme can convert atmospheric hydrogen into energy. This opens new possibility for new renewable and sustainable energy sources. It was able to retain its power to generate energy even when frozen or heated to 80 degrees Celsius.

The 146th Assembly of the IPU was held in Manama, Bahrain in March 2023. India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived in Bahrain’s capital Manama, leading an Indian Parliamentary delegation, to attend the Assembly.
The Indian delegation will participate in the Asia Pacific Group meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Notes:
The Tata Group and US Aerospace Lockheed Martin have agreed to produce fighter wings at their joint venture, Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Limited (TLMAL) in Hyderabad.
The MOU allows the production of 29 fighter wing shipsets and includes an option for additional shipsets. Deliveries will start in 2025.

Sariska Tiger Reserve is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India, and covers an area of 881 km2 (340 sq mi).
Recently, a five-year-old tiger known as T-113 was relocated from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) to Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) in order to increase the tiger population in Sariska. Currently, there are 24 tigers in the reserve, including 10 females, seven males, and seven cubs.

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation declined to a 25-month low of 3.85 per cent in February 2023.
This is the ninth straight month of decline in WPI-based inflation. As per the government data, the decline is due to the easing prices of manufactured items and fuel and power. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had hiked key interest rate by 25 basis points to 6.50 per cent, saying core inflation still remains sticky.

South Korea says it will build an enormous facility to make computer chips in the greater Seoul area, with about $230 billion in investment from memory chip giant Samsung Electronics.
The plans were announced by President Yoon Suk Yeol and confirmed by the electronics giant. The world’s largest new ‘high-tech system semiconductor cluster’ will be built in the Seoul Metropolitan area and the total investment would be completed in about 20 years.

American high jumper Dick Fosbury, who revolutionised high jump technique, recently passed away at the age of 76.
Against convention, Fosbury turned his back to the bar and arched his body over it to win gold at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. The unique method, which he had developed a few years earlier- Fosbury Flop, is now the most used technique around the world.

The US government has appointed former Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti as the new ambassador to India, two years after his name was first announced for the role.
Mr Garcetti, who is a close ally of Joe Biden, was nominated for the post by the US president in 2021. But his appointment was held up after allegations that he had overlooked accusations of sexual harassment against an aide when he was Mayor.

The Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference is set to be held in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally launched Compendium of Indian Millet (Shri Anna) Start-ups and Book of millet (Shri Anna) standards.
He also declared the Indian Institute of Millets Research of ICAR as a Global Centre of Excellence and inaugurated this conference and unveil a customised postal stamp and currency coin on the International Year of Millets (IYM) – 2023 during the event.

Narayani River, also known as Gandaki River, is one of the major rivers in Nepal. It is a left bank tributary of the Ganges in India.
The Indian government has developed a river front on Narayani River in a district in Bihar under the Namami Gange Program.
