The state government of Kerala has recently approved for commencing land acquisition to SilverLine project, which is a semi high-speed railway project.
Proposed at a cost of Rs.63,940 crore, the project aims to connect the northern and southern part of Kerala by rail and reduce the travel time. This is one of the biggest infra projects of recent times in the state.

The Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ‘Cooperation in Development of National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat’
NMHC, a world-class facility is to be developed near the ASI site of Lothal, located about 80 kms away from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The complex would be developed as an international tourist destination, where the maritime heritage of India would be showcased.

Notes:
Google Pay has collaborated with Visa and has announced to expand its cards tokenisation feature. This feature would enable users to make debit or credit card payments in a secure mode using a digital token attached to their phone.
In India, card tokenization feature of google pay has been on boarded to Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Federal Bank etc.

The logistics division of the Commerce Department of Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry has launched an IT-based smart enforcement app, which aims to implement of rules and regulations related to road-based violations by trucks in India.
This move is expected to reduce logistics costs and transport time in India by decreasing the number of physical checks of trucks.

The telecommunication regulator – TRAI has launched a TV Channel Selector web portal. Using this portal, consumers who do not have smart phones can check their subscription, modify it, view all channels provided by their cable operators.
Alternatively, this service could also be accessed using TV Channel Selector App, using a smart phone.

The China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) which is a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has successfully launched Chinese satellites namely BEIJING-3, HISEA-2, YANGWANG-1 & TKSY01-TJ.
These satellites were launched using Long March-2D (LM-2D) Launch Vehicle. Of the said satellites, BEIJING-3 is a high-performance commercial remote sensing satellite which will provide high-resolution data and information.

The Telangana government recently decided to adopt the Andhra Pradesh government’s flagship scheme, Nadu Nedu. The Telangana government has recently sought a “no objection certificate” from the Andhra Pradesh government over the Mana Badi Nadu Nedu. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme which seeks to transform government schools into vibrant and competitive institutions.

Notes:
The Indian Navy, for the first time is participating in a joint exercise with the European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), which is set to take place in the Gulf of Aden, also known as the Gulf of Barbera.
This exercise would involve some of the most advanced air defence, anti-submarine exercises, cross deck helicopter operations, tactical manoeuvres etc.

ICMED is the name of the scheme that was launched for Certification of Medical Devices in the year 2016.
Recently, the Quality Council of India (QCI), and the Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AiMeD) have added some features to the scheme. The new scheme is renamed as ICMED 13485 PLUS. It will undertake verification of the quality, safety and efficacy of medical devices.

Notes:
The Union government has issued a gazette notification to set up the Karnataka Coastal Zone Management Authority. under provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
This 15-member body would protect and improve the quality of the coastal environment. Its target is preventing and controlling environmental pollution in the Coastal Regulation Zone in Karnataka.
