The Union Budget announced a new scheme called ‘Parvat Mala’ or National Ropeways Development Programme.
The scheme will be launched for regions like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, J&K, and the northeast to facilitate a modern system of transportation and connectivity in hills.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry notified the second phase of the scheme for enhancement of competitiveness in the capital goods sector.
The scheme was notified with a financial outlay of ₹1,207 crore. It would consist of a budgetary support from the government of ₹975 crore and the rest of ₹232 crore would come through the industry contribution.

A new scheme, Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North-East, PM-DevINE was announced by the Union Minister for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2022-23.
PM-DevINE will be implemented through the North-Eastern Council. An initial allocation of Rs. 1,500 crore will be made for the new scheme. It will fund infrastructure and social development projects based on needs of the North-East.

An ancient temple dating from the early centuries of Buddhism has been unearthed in the Swat Valley in northern Pakistan.
The temple dates from about the middle of the second century BCE, at a time when Gandhara was ruled by the Indo-Greek kingdom. It was built above an earlier Buddhist temple that may have dated from as early as the third century BCE.

A tripartite MoU has been signed between State Bank of India, Indira Gandhi Centre for the Arts and National Culture Fund for developing ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design’ at Red Fort, Delhi.
The ABCD project is being implemented by IGNCA, an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture. The project aims for Economic Value Addition to GI products. It will also provide a platform for artisans and designers, to provide a wide market.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation 216-feet tall ‘Statue of Equality’ in Hyderabad to commemorate the 11th-century Bhakti saint Ramanujacharya.
Ramanuja or Ramanujacharya was a famous Indian philosopher, Hindu theologian and an influential saint of Bhakti Movement. He promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of life including faith, caste and creed.

Notes:
The Assam Forest Department has announced to hold first-of-its kind leopard census in the state. The city of Guwahati is witnessing increasing leopard-human friction, due to rapid infrastructure development.
The Census will map the leopard’s habitat and establish standards to be followed for infrastructure development.

Revolutionary Sachindra Nath Sanyal He was the founder of the Hindustan Republican Association also known as Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. His 80th death anniversary was observed recently.
He was a mentor for revolutionaries like Chandrasekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh. He along with Rashbehari Bose attacked Viceroy Hardinge while he was entering Delhi. Sanyal was imprisoned for his involvement in the plans for the Ghadar Conspiracy.

Notes:
A tapestry representing Picasso’s iconic “Guernica” has been returned to the United Nations. It used to hang outside the Security Council chambers.
The 7.5-meter-wide tapestry is returned by the Rockefeller family to the UN, where it will be hung again.  The tapestry was commissioned in 1955 and woven in consultation with Picasso. Picasso did his original “Guernica” painting during the Spanish Civil War.
