Young Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was recently found dead at his residence, at the age of 34. Sushant was known for his acclaimed performances in films such as MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sonchiriya, Kai Po Che, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! among others.
The policy think-tank of the Indian government, NITI Aayog signed him to promote the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) in the year 2018.

Versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has recently passed away at a private hospital in Mumbai, at the age of 53.
Irrfan is considered as one of the finest actors in Hindi cinema. He won the National Award in 2013 for his outstanding performance in the sports drama ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. He was also awarded the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2011. He had also acted in famous Hollywood films like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Jurassic World’, and ‘Life of Pi’.

Mumbai headquartered IDFC FIRST Bank recently announced that it has appointed veteran Bollywood celebrity Amitabh Bachchan as its first ever brand ambassador.
The IDFC bank was originally founded in 2015. It was founded as a new entity after the merger of IDFC Bank and Capital First in December 2018. At present, the bank has 424 bank branches with 104 asset branches and 272 ATMs.

The Bollywood movie based on the life of two rap singers, Gully Boy created history in the Filmfare awards by winning 13 of them. The film won in all 13 categories, which it was nominated in.
In the event held in Guwahati, the film beat the previous record of 11 awards held by ‘Black’ by winning in categories that include Best Film, Best Director for Zoya Akhtar, Best Actor for Ranveer Singh and Best Actress for Alia Bhatt. It also bagged Supporting Role Male and Female, Best Music Album and Best Lyrics.

National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), India’s anti-doping body has selected Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty as its brand ambassador. NADA hopes that his celebrity status would help its efforts to clean up sports in the country from the menace.

Yami Gautam was chosen brand ambassador of Rising Himachal Global Investors’ Meet 2019 to be held from November 7 and 8, 2019. Rising Himachal Global Investors’ Meet 2019 is conceptualized to re-establish Himachal as a favored investment destination in India. In this event Himachal will showcase the policy & regulatory environment, investment opportunities across various sectors to boost manufacturing and employment generation in the state.

Varun Dhawan’s upcoming movie ‘Coolie No. 1’ has become the first Bollywood film to go plastic-free. The environmental friendly initiative was taken by director of movie David Dhawan and its producers Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. The movie is all set to release on May 1, 2020. Their decision comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, urged people to shun single-use plastic and encouraged usage of jute and cloth bags to protect the environment.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be felicitated with ‘Excellence in Cinema’ honour at the awards night of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on August 8. The festival would pay tribute to the actor’s continuous contribution to cinema and popular culture in India with the award. Shah Rukh is the chief guest at the festival. He will be presented the award by Linda Dessau, who is the first female Governor of the State of Victoria. Helmed by the Victorian government of Australia, the IFFM is back for its 10th edition in the cultural city and will celebrate “courage” as its central theme in 2019. The felicitation will take place at the iconic Palais Theatre in Melbourne, which is one of the city’s heritage landmarks.

In August 2019, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will visit Australia to attend the 10th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) as its chief guest. Here, he is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree from Melbourne-based La Trobe University for his contributions and efforts towards underprivileged children, women’s empowerment through Meer Foundation and his achievements in the Indian entertainment industry. La Trobe University is the first Australian university to award Khan with an Honorary Doctor of Letters (honoris causa), and will present the honorary doctorate ‪on August 9 at its Melbourne campus in Bundoora.

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has been felicitated by Council of European Chambers of Commerce (CEUCC) in India and an European Union delegation as part of the ‘Europe Day’ celebrations in Mumbai on May 17. He has been felicitated for his decade-long support to promoting the cause of children’s rights and his collaboration with the EU and Plan India in their girls’ rights endeavours. The event also highlighted how Europe has always been a favourite shooting destination for Indian filmmakers for many decades. The Europe Day is celebrated every year on May 9 to mark the formation of the European Union (EU).
