Shah Rukh Khan was, in January 2018, awarded the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum 2018 meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The superstar was awarded this humanitarian award along with Sir Elton John and Cate Blanchett, for his efforts to rehabilitate acid attack survivors through his non-profit organisation.

The Beating Retreat ceremony, held on January 29 at Vijay Chowk, marks the end of Republic Day celebrations. Originating in 1690, it signified troop disengagement at sunset, with drums directing soldiers to retreat. The ceremony was introduced in India in the early 1950s during a visit by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Recent changes include the interchange of the hymn ‘Abide with Me’ and ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon,’ with no Bollywood tunes included. Additionally, around 1,000 drones will perform a laser show, organized by Botlab in collaboration with the Defence Ministry.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi has been declared as the ‘National Icon’ of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for creating awareness amongst voters along with ECI.
In the 2017 film Newton, for which he won the National Award, he played a role of CRPF officer, who was tasked with conducting elections in the jungles of Chhattisgarh, faced by conficts.

Pritam Chakraborty was born on 14th June, 1971 in Kolkata. Pritam’s composing career started in Bollywood, when he was signed for the film ‘Tere Liye’ along with his friend Jeet Ganguli. He built his solo career as the composer for the film
‘Dhoom’. His award winning films are Jab We Met, Love Aaj kal, Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani, Golmaal 3, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Bodyguard,
Barfi, Cocktail, Dilwale, Ae Dil Hai Muskil, Jab Harry Met Sejal, Jagga
Jasoos, etc. His musical style is mainly
characterised as a delicate fusion of Indian classical music with Western
influences. There is a huge reason why Pritam is regarded as one of the composers who played a pivotal role in redefining Bollywood, and that reason is his uniqueness and stride for perfection.

Rahul Dev (RD) Burman was born on 27th June, 1939 in Kolkata. He was an Indian composer, who is known as the King of Bollywood Music and regarded as one of the
influential music directors of the Indian
film industry.

The government of Arunanchal Pradesh has signed Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt as the brand ambassador on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations, marking the 50th year of the naming of the state.
It also announced filmmaker Rahul Mittra as its brand advisor. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The WEF announced the world’s most promising 112 tomorrow’s leaders under the age of 40, who are involved in activities including campaigning for public healthcare among others.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has launched a free online platform called ‘Pravasi Rojgar’ to help migrants find job opportunities.
Launching the app in Maharashtra, the actor said it will provide adequate information and links for the people to find suitable jobs. Connected with over 500 companies of various sectors, the app also aims to provide specific job training programmes.

Veteran Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan recently passed away at the age of 72. She was fondly called as ‘Masterji’ in Bollywood.
During her long career spanning over forty years, she had choreographed more than 2000 songs in many languages. She had also won three National Awards for Best Choreography for Devdas, Jab We Met and the Tamil film Shringaram.
