Yuva Sangam Phase 5 Launches Nationwide

Yuva Sangam Phase 5 commenced on November 24, 2024, and delegates from Bihar and Andhra Pradesh embarked on journeys to Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, respectively. This initiative, by the Ministry of Education, encourages unity through cultural exchange, which targets young individuals aged 18 to 30, including students and volunteers.

Purpose of Yuva Sangam

The programme promotes connections among youth from various states and Union Territories, which aims to enhance cultural understanding and facilitate knowledge sharing. Participants engage in meaningful interactions during their visits.

Delegates are chosen by nodal institutes in their states. This selection ensures diversity among participants. The group includes students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, and young professionals.

Structure of the Programme

Participants visit paired states for 5-7 days, excluding travel time. Each tour focuses on five key areas, known as the 5 Ps. Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), Prodyogiki (Technology).

Since its pilot phase in 2022, Yuva Sangam has gained immense popularity. The last phase recorded over 44,000 registrations. A total of 4,795 young individuals have participated in 114 tours to date.

Government Support

The programme operates under a “Whole of Government” approach. Various ministries and departments support its implementation. Stakeholders include Home Affairs, Culture, Tourism, Youth Affairs and Sports, Information and Broadcasting, DoNER, and Railways. Nodal Higher Education Institutes manage delegate selection and oversee tours.
