World’s Largest Ramayan Temple

A monumental project has commenced in the East Champaran district of Bihar as the construction work of the ‘world’s largest Ramayan temple’ got underway on June 20. This temple, poised to be taller than the renowned Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia, is expected to become a marvel of architectural grandeur.

Setting the Stage for a Magnificent Temple

The Ramayan temple, a testament to devotion and craftsmanship, will be constructed on a vast land spanning 3.76 lakh sq. ft. Located approximately 120 km from Patna, this monumental structure will serve as a beacon of spiritual enlightenment.

Surpassing Angkor Wat

The towering Ramayan temple is set to surpass the height of the 12th-century Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia, renowned for its architectural splendor and cultural significance. This ambitious undertaking aims to create an iconic symbol of faith and reverence.

Investment in the Temple

The construction of the grand Ramayan temple comes with an estimated cost of ₹500 crore. This substantial investment reflects the commitment to realizing a magnificent edifice that will attract devotees and tourists from around the world.

Completion and Design

By the end of 2025, the three-storeyed Viraat Ramayan temple is expected to stand in all its glory. It will comprise 12 striking domes, with the highest dome reaching an impressive height of 270 ft. The temple’s overall measurement is projected to be 2,800 ft in length, 1,400 ft in width, and 405 ft in height.

Drawing Inspiration from Iconic Temples

The architectural design of the Ramayan temple draws inspiration from three iconic temples. The majestic Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, the revered Ramanathaswami temple in Rameshwaram, and the enchanting Meenakshi Sundareshwarar temple in Madurai have influenced the temple’s design, reflecting their distinctive features and spiritual significance.
