World’s largest COVID-19 care centre in Delhi to operate under “Operation Corona Warriors”

On July 5, 2020, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal inaugurated the 10,000 bed COVID-19 care centre, Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre and Hospital (SPCCCH) in the Chhatarpur region at the National Capital. The centre is the largest COVID-19 care facility in the world.

Highlights

The centre is 700 feet wide and 1,700 feet long. It is roughly the size of 20 football fields. It has 200 enclosures with 50 beds each.

The Delhi Government is to provide administrative support to the centre. The centre is to be operated by the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) under Operation Corona Warriors.

Operation Corona Warriors

The ITBP is to operate the centre under the name “Operation Corona Warriors”. Around 1,000 doctors, paramedics of ITBP and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and another 1000 paramedics have been deployed for the smooth operation of the facility.

Apart from general physicians and COVID-19 specialists, psychiatrists are also to be present at the centre.

Also, a special “Quick Reaction Team” has been deployed at the centre to attend sudden security requirements.
