- The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was India’s only Indian entry in the top 300 last year. The IISc’s this year’s rankings have dropped positions from the 250-300 group to 301-350 group due to a “significant fall” in its research citation impact.
- IISc has improved its performance in the research environment, teaching environment and industry income.
- The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has debuted in the ranking with a joint top position of 301-350 with IISc.
- IITs in Mumbai, Delhi, and Kharagpur were placed in the 401-500 ranking bracket.
- IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi have increased their rankings by 100 ranks from the previous year,
- 56 Indian universities featured in the overall 1,300-university list from 92 countries. Last year 49 Indian universities had featured in the list.
The rankings came as a disappointment for India as for the first time since 2012, there is not a single Indian entry in the world’s top 300 institutes.
