World NTD Day
30th January is observed as the World NTD day to curb the neglected tropical diseases by engaging global health community and general public. The second edition of this annual event is to be observed this year. NTDs are mainly parasitic, bacterial or viral diseases threatening lives of more than 1.5 billion individuals, especially those living in poor countries facing extreme poverty and conflicts. These infections spread via human contacts, insects, contaminated water and soil.
