World Athlete of the Year 2019

Men’s- Eliud Kipchoge, Kenyan long-distance runner has been awarded the World Athlete of the Year 2019. 35-year -old also won the award in 2018 making him the 4th athlete to win the World Athlete of the Year award in consecutive years.

Eluid Kipchoge became the world record holder in the marathon with a timing of 2hrs:01 min: 39 secs at the Berlin Marathon 2018. He also won the Gold Medal in the marathon at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Usain Bolt has received the World Athletes of the Year award for a record 6 times to date.

Women’s- Dalilah Muhammad, 29-year-old U.S track and field athlete have received the World Athlete of the Year 2019. She won the Gold medal in 400 meters hurdles at the 2019 World Championships and 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The World Athlete of the Year award is organized by World Athletics (formerly IAAF).
