World AIDS Day to be observed on 1st December
World AIDS Day is observed annually on 1st December 2019 since 1988. It is an international day, observed by all member states of the United Nations (UN) to create and raise awareness about the global pandemic by spreading knowledge about prevention and control of AIDS and mourning for those who have lost their lives of the disease.
AIDS is caused by the spreading of HIV infection. HIV stands for human immunodeficiency viruses.
The theme for 2019: Communities make the difference
In India as per 2017 estimations of the Government, around 21.40 lakh people are living with HIV/AIDS.
Highest as per 2017 estimations, is in the state of Andhra Pradesh with around 2.70 lakh people living with HIV/AIDS.
