Winston Churchill Leadership Award to Ukraine’s President

Winston Churchill Leadership Award was presented to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented the award on July 26, 2022, after comparing Winston Churchill and Zelensky in times of crises.

  • Volodymyr Zelensky was presented this award for standing against Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 and fighting back. The situation was similar to what Churchill had faced in 1940.
  • He received the award in virtual mode, during a ceremony at held at London Office of Boris Johnson.
  • Event was attended by members of the Churchill family, Ukrainian Ambassador Vadym Prystaiko as well as Ukrainians who have trained by British soldiers.
  • Boris Johnson and Zelensky share a close relationship, ever since Boris Johnson has become the first Western leader to visit Ukraine amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict.

The Churchill leadership award:

The Winston Churchill Leadership award was first given in 2006. It has been present to Prince Charles, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former British Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major in the past.

Winston Churchill:

Sir Winston Churchill was a British statesman, writer and soldier. He also served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during Second World War, as well as from 1951-1955. He was an economic liberal and imperialist. For most of his career, he was the member of Conservative Party.
