16-year-old Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg was awarded for her struggle against climate change.
15-year-old Divina Maloum of Cameroon was awarded for her peaceful struggle in promoting the rights of children against the extremist group Boko Haram.
International Children?s Peace Prize is awarded annually to a child who had made a significant contribution to advocating and promoting the rights of children and for working towards the improvement of orphans, child laborers and children suffering from HIV/AIDs.
It was first awarded in 2005. In 2006, Om Prakash Gurjar was the first Indian to win the peace prize.
