Who has won the 2016 Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar award (Tamil)?

Lakshmi Saravana Kumar, Tamil writer and filmmaker, has won the 2016 Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar award (Tamil) for his novel “Kaanakan”, which depicts the life of Paliar tribe in the Western Ghats and hunting practices. It deals with the Paliar tribes’ struggle against ganja plantations and the attempt to appropriate their land for the purpose in the 1980s. Beside him, the 23 writers of all 23 languages recognized by the Sahitya Akademi are also selected for 2016 Yuva Puraskar. The winners will receive a plaque and a cash reward of Rs 50,000.
