Rashmi Narzary
Rashmi Narzary has won the 2016 Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar award (English) for her collection of short stories “His Share of Sky”, which covers various stories keeping Barsau (a little tribal Bodo boy) in center. The stories narrate the different situations – sometimes very funny and at other times emotional – in which Barsau lands himself, along with his two brothers and many friends. Every child will relate to witty and smart Barsau. Though, he lives in a rural setting in the north-east of India, his charm and sense of mischief remains universal and timeless. The author is among the list of 21 writers across 21 languages recognized by the Sahitya Akademi for 2016 Bal Puraskar award. The winners will receive a copper-plaque and a cheque of Rs. 50,000 at a special function on November 14, 2016.
