Which country is world’s largest Producer of Copper?
Chile is the the top mine producer of copper producing at least one-third world share with output at 5.33 million MT in 2009. Second place was of USA, however in February 2010, Peru became the second largest producer of Copper in the world thus replacing the US to third. United States, the second largest producer in 2008 with an output of 1.31 million MT, dropped to 1.19 million MT in 2009. Peru’s copper production totalled 1.27 million metric tons in 2009.
Peru is also among the world’s largest producers of gold, zinc and silver.
