The National Film Archive of India (NFAI) has recently acquired 1,790 songbooklets of hindi films belonging to every decade of the India’s cinematic heritage. The song booklets (from 1934 to 2012) are a visual and textual journey through our cinematic history and heritage. They are also an indicator of the changing printing technology and art-work down the ages. It is notable that these songbooks contain not only the full lyrics of songs in multiple languages, but are also a treasure trove of information about the film itself, including the cast, credits and storyline. The headquarters of NFAI is at Pune, Maharashtra.
