The United Nations’ World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (WDCDD) is observed every year on June 17 to highlight the urgent need to curb the desertification process. It also aims to strengthen the visibility of the dry land issues on the international environmental agenda. The 2016 theme is “Inclusive cooperation for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality” and its slogan is “Protect Earth. Restore Land. Engage People”.
