What is the history of hole punch?

The origin of humble office tool hole puncher or hole punch are quite unknown. For the first time, the two-hole punch was introduced by Friedrich Soennecken, a German businessman and inventor, on 14 November 1886. It was called Papierlocher für Sammelmappen (paper hole maker for binding). The design has not much changed after this invention.
The most common use of hole punch is as office stationary. The others include leather punch, hole punch tools for metal etc.
