What is the difference between a privilege and a right?

[Jurisprudence] According to Hohfield, privilege means the freedom which a person has i.e., to do or not to do something. It means what one can do far himself without being prevented by the law. A right implies a correlative duty but a privilege does not. The right can be extinguished without affecting the privilege.
