What is Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan?
The Union Budget of 2018-19 proposed that without segmentation from pre-nursery to class 12, school education must be treated holistically.
Samagra Shiksha is an overarching programme in the sector of school education extending from pre-school to class 12. The programme was prepared with a broader goal for improving the overall school effectiveness, that is measured in terms of equitable learning outcomes and providing equal opportunities for schooling in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal(SDG), 2030 for education. The Samagra Shiksha programme replaced or includes three former schemes of Central Government named- Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Teacher Education (TE), and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
