What is Lipid Profile?
Lipid profile means testing of blood to determine the amount of various lipids present in the blood. The lipid profile has five components
1. Total Cholesterol
2. HDL Cholesterol
3. LDL Cholesterol
4. VLDL cholesterol
5. Triglycerides
Normally Lipid profile is conducted after 14 hours of fasting and the person should not have consumed alcohol for last 24 hours. Neither tea or coffee is permissible. The lipid profiles are to detect Blood Lipid abnormalities.
