What is Golden Duck in cricket?

In cricket, a duck refers to a score of zero by a batsman. This can happen when the batsman is dismissed without scoring any runs, either by being caught, bowled, stumped, or run out. A player who is dismissed for a duck is said to have been “bowled a duck,” “caught a duck,” or “stumped a duck,” depending on the manner of their dismissal. The term “duck” is often used in a humorous or playful way, and a player who is dismissed for a duck is sometimes jokingly referred to as a “sitting duck.”
There are three types of ducks in cricket viz. duck, golden duck and diamond duck. If a batsman plays a number of balls but gets out without any run, it is a “duck”. If the batsman gets out on the very first ball of the innings, it is known as “golden duck”. If the batsman gets out without even playing a ball, for example, gets run out from non-striking side, then it is called “diamond duck”.
