What is a Maine Coon?

Maine Coon is a highly preferred breed of cat. The name is derived from North American state of Maine, in which it is the official state cat. Maine Coon has very distinctive physical features and is said to have descended from the pairings of local short-haired breeds brought overseas by English seafarers in United States.
