What is a Bug Triage?
Triage is a French term which is derived from the word Trier. It is a medical term which refers to separating, selecting and sorting of patients depending on the severity of their condition to be able to maximally help them especially when the resources are scarce. Likewise, in software testing, it refers to defining the severity of defects and thereby prioritising them accordingly. It is used for large projects where many defects are encountered. Thus, the tracker issues are both identified and given them a suitable priority. It ensures that all the reported issues managed properly.
Based on the bugs reported by the testing team, a Bug Triage Meeting (Bug Council) is conducted where the open bugs are divided into various categories. The primary purpose of the meeting is to take action on most critical bugs. Generally, the members of the meeting are QA Lead, Development Lead and the Project Manager.
