What causes Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease?

Prions are made up of Proteins and they have no RNA/ DNA. They are not viruses and are known to be the "proteins that cause infections”. Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease, also known as human form of mad cow disease has been a subject to various studies in recent times. The causative agent of this disease are Prions.
