WEF: Metaverse for Public- Private Collaboration

To harness the potential of the metaverse, the World Economic Forum (WEF) recently announced that it is building a “Global Collaboration Village” as the virtual future of public-private cooperation. It will provide immersive spaces for stakeholders to come together and address critical global issues.

What is Global Collaboration Village?

The Global Collaboration Village will be an extension of WEFs public-private platforms and in-person meetings. It will provide a more comprehensive process for the world to come together to explore ideas in an immersive way. WEF is collaborating with Accenture and Microsoft in the “Global Collaboration Village” project.

What are the key aims of the Global Collaboration Village?

The metaverse is an immersive and interactive environment that is facilitated by the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Thus, the metaverse will be a universal and immersive virtual world, which blurs the line between interactions online and in real life. The benefits of metaverse include Connecting the world, Providing an Immersive experience, enabling better social interactions online, etc. Some of the concerns with metaverse include Information privacy, user addiction, and safety of users.
