Wealth Report 2013: India with 122 Billionaires ranked 5th
As per Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2013:
India with 122 billionaires stood at 5th position in the list of to 10 countries with highest number of High Net-Worth Individual (HNWI).
Top 5 countries are:
- US
- China
- Germany
- UK
- India
- India’s High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWI) with assets of 150 crore or more is estimated to increase to 225 billionaires in the coming decade, which would place India along with China and Japan with highest HNWIs in Asia.
- Mumbai ranked 7th and Delhi 11th amongst 30 globally rich cities with 2105 and 1945 HNWIs respectively.
- By the year 2022, Mumbai is projected to have 4988 HNWIs with a growth of and Delhi 4278.
Who is a High Net-Worth Individual (HNWI)?
The most commonly quoted figure for membership in the high net worth “club” is $1 million in liquid financial assets. An investor with less than $1 million but more than $100,000 is considered to be “affluent”, or perhaps even “sub-HNWI”. The upper end of HNWI is around $5 million, at which point the client is then referred to as “very HNWI”. More than $50 million in wealth classifies a person as “ultra HNWI”.
