Vodafone Idea Partners with C-DOT to Promote IoT Standardization
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to establish a laboratory aimed at promoting standardization and interoperability in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem in India.
Key Points
- The lab will provide device testing and certification based on oneM2M standards and 3GPP standards for interoperability, which have been adopted as national standards for IoT solution design by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
- The lab is equipped to test over 175 scenarios, including network and functional testing, field testing, application testing, compatibility testing, oneM2M standard testing, and more. It can also test over 30 use cases across various industries, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Connected Car, Point of Sale (POS), Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), and more.
- Vi has already tested more than 50 devices across industries such as automotive, utilities, banking and financial services, logistics, and more.
- The lab will serve as an IoT ecosystem orchestrator, bringing all stakeholders together to ensure a seamless experience. It has already certified five devices as “network-ready.”
- India’s IoT market is projected to reach $15 billion by 2025, according to a Nasscom report. However, challenges such as device network compatibility, remote device configuration, and a fragmented ecosystem need to be addressed.
- Vi will demonstrate the Vi IoT Lab service in partnership with C-DOT at the upcoming India Mobile Congress 2023.
