Viswanathan Anand joins as mentor of ChessKid
Viswanathan Anand, India’s first Grandmaster and five-time World chess champion has become mentor for Indian edition of chesskid.com, a US-based chess platform.
Under the guidance of 49-year-old Anand who has inspired a generation of young chess players, online platform chesskid.com would release curated chess content and hold annual online competitions for India’s aspiring young chess players.
About Chess Kid
It is a US-based online chess platform. It launched its Indian edition under mentorship of Viswanathan Anand.
It is the world’s largest scholastic website for kids, besides being safe and accessible platform. Kids can play live chess, do puzzles, interact with other players.
Currently there are 1 million kids playing on the online platform.
It develops not only chess skills, but also helps in academics.
Need: Although in India, there are lot of good talents such as Praggnanandhaa, Nihal Sarin and D. Gukesh, but not all kids have ability to get training or resources they require. Thus one way to get that is via technology.
