Virat Kohli Creates Record by becoming Fastest Batsman to Score 8000 runs in ODIs
India’s Skipper Virat Kohli has created a record by becoming the quickest batsman to score 8000 runs in one-day international cricket beating South Africa’s AB de Villier’s record by seven fewer innings. Virat Kohli has managed to cross the 8000 run mark in his 175th innings during India’s match against Bangladesh in ICC Champion’s Trophy semi-final in Birmingham.
Earlier record holder was South African captain AB de Villiers who crossed the 8000 run mark in 182 innings.
Earlier this year, South Africa’s Hashim Amla had broken Virat Kohli’s previous record of being the fastest batsman to score 7000 runs in ODIs. While Virat Kohli scored 7000 runs in 166 innings, Hashim Amla took only150 innings to get there. Hashim Amla is also the fastest batsman to score 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 runs.
