Vice President inaugurates 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Vaidyaratnam P.S. Warrier
At Kottal in Kerala, vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier. He emphasized the importance of Ayurvedic medicine and Atharva Veda at the event.
About Vaidyaratnam P S Warrier
He was an Ayurvedic physician. He founded Kottakal Arya Vaidyasala in 1902 for manufacture and sale of Ayurvedic medicines in India. He also established a Ayurvedic Patasala in 1917 that is now operating as an Ayurveda college. The group now has 5 hospitals, 3 medicine factories, R&D centers, 200 acres of herbal gardens.
Arya Vaidya Sala
The Arya Vaidya Sala institutions are headquartered at Kottakkal, Malappuram district. It operates 5 hospitals and and a charitable center. It is currently treating 800,000 patients. It also assists in Ministry of AYUSH in providing training and advises. The Ayurvedic pills discovered by the center has revolutionized Ayurvedic medicines. The center owns herbal gardens, medicinal plant researches. It also works on researches with CSIR – Council of Scientific and Industrial Research of Government of India.
Awards and recognitions
Government of India issued postage stamps in his honor. In 1933, he was conferred with the title “Vaidyaratna” in recognition of his services to humanity by the then Governor General of India.
